Precision Clock

To test a recording system's accuracy, the clock is connected to a data or auxiliary channel input of the instrument under test and a record made. The accuracy of the sample interval can be determined by frequency analysis of the recorded signal.

The unit may be permanently connected to a recording instrument auxiliary channel as a frequency reference.

The clock has three frequency outputs of 10, 100 and 1000 Hz, all derived from a single high precision crystal. The three outputs are square waves of different amplitudes. The 1000 Hz signal is 5 V, the 100 Hz output can be varied from 0 to 5 V by means of an internal potentiometer and the 10 Hz output is limited to a precise 1.2 V by a bandgap diode. The unit is powered by an external voltage between 9 and 18 volts DC.

The crystal accuracy is 0.1 parts per million for 0 to 50 degrees C. The frequency can be calibrated by means of a potentiometer. Verif-i offers a calibration service.
